The autumn is here with its fantastic colours. Early autumn brings warm winds that make the hikes extra delightful. The crisp and clear air, as winter approaches, invigorates us. It is the best season for harvesting from nature—you can pick berries that taste authentic and are full of nutrients while experiencing the tranquillity in harmony with nature. As you wander in the Lyngen Alps toward the open sea, the changing sky colours, influenced by the low sun, provide a great start to your hikes. The Lyngen Alps offer excellent hiking trails to summits, along the fjord, or through valleys. Exploring these mountains need not be strenuous—even though they stretch up to 1900 meters above sea level, there are many tracks for those who prefer gentler hikes. You will enjoy the sight of sharp alpine peaks with glaciers unfolding. We have put together a package that includes some fantastic high-altitude hikes, not too steep, and selected valleys. During your stay, you’ll reside in our seaside fisherman’s cabins by sea or apartments with views of the sea and the Lyngen Alps. To immerse you in local culture, we serve meals at our panoramic restaurant, Bøteriet, focusing on local ingredients and traditional dishes from Northern Norway, including berries harvested from the surrounding mountains. Lyngen and our area are renowned for delicacies like shrimp, lamb, and excellent fresh fish. Local guides will accompany you on all the tours, highlighting the diversity of our nature, history, and culture. Feel free to ask questions along the way! If you are wondering if this is right for you, these tours are moderately demanding, with day trips lasting between 4-6 hours and covering up to 1 miles. Nearby, you will find the popular Blåisvannet, the “bluest” water in the world, where we’ll hike one of the days. Another highlight is Lyngstuva, the northernmost point, jutting out toward the open sea—both are among our most visited tours in Lyngen. When you venture up Russelvdalen toward Gamvik, you will encounter a landscape that opens to fjords and island communities. It is a sparse terrain reminiscent of the high plateaus in Finnmark, yet uniquely Arctic as it surrounds us out toward the open sea. In the evenings, you can venture out to search for the Northern Lights, either independently or with a guide. To prepare, we have arranged a Northern Lights photo workshop, allowing you to capture the magic. Autumn is a beautiful season for hiking here, and we warmly welcome you.
